LPMC Offers Many Advantages
LPMC is similar to SMC (Sheet Molding Compound), however, there are a few significant differences:
LPMC utilizes a unique process, using cost-effective tooling, and very low molding pressure.
Though LPMC uses the same manufacturing processes, due to its difference in thickening, it molds quite differently.
LPMC is not chemically thickened like SMC, but is thickened physically using Crystic Impreg Technology. And, because it is a physically thickened material it is more reliable in terms of stability and consistency.
Another key advantage is the low molding pressures needed to mold a part...somewhere in the range
of 100-150 psi.
LPMC provides an extended shelf like, or molding window, of 10 to 12 months. This compares to an average shelf life of conventional SMC compounds of 30 to 45 days.
LPMC offers very favorable characteristics for corrosive and non-flammable applictions
Formulations cover a wide range of applications, including structural military components, commercial products, marine industry parts, automotive panels and components.
